1.  Children and adults don't understand each other because they see things differently.  Grown-up people are more experienced and try to avoid making the same mistakes.  Children have to make mistakes before they understand that they should avoid them.  The best way to achieve understanding between grown-ups and children  is to have a serious conversation with a lot of examples from other people's lives. 
2.  The generation gap is a lack of understanding and trust between children and older people (their parents). One of the examples is how differently parents and their children see the value of education and hard work.  To bridge this gap  both parents and their children should  talk more often and spend more time together sharing their interests, for example  in music and books.  Making compromises can also help a lot.
