1 The Pied Piper of Hamelin
It was the year 1284 in Hamelin, Germany. All the houses in town were full of rats(полные
крыс)! The people were not happy!
One day, a strange man arrived(приехал) in town. He carried a pipe. He played beautiful
music on it! “I can play my pipe and make the rats go away! But I want some money.” “Make
them go away and you can have your money!” they promised.
The Pied Piper played his pipe and the rats followed(следовали) him all the way out of town.
The Pied Piper asked for his money, but the people refused(отказали). “Go away! We can’t
give you our money!” they cried. So, he started to play his pipe again. This time, all the
children of the town followed him into the hills. The people were very sad, but they learned a
very important lesson:
Always keep your promises(обещания)!
